Deposit Guarantee System

The Deposit Guarantee System is a set of measures aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of depositors by paying compensation through the Deposit Guarantee Agency in the event of a guarantee case.

The system involves:

  • The Deposit Guarantee Agency
  • Banks
  • Owners of guaranteed objects

Guaranteed Objects

The following are considered guaranteed objects:

  • Deposits of individuals, including individual entrepreneurs
  • Deposits of legal entities
  • Deposits in national and foreign currencies

Funds Recognized as Deposits

The following are considered deposits:

  • Funds placed under a bank deposit agreement or bank account agreement (including escrow accounts), as well as those confirmed by deposit certificates;
  • Accrued but unpaid interest under deposit or account agreements and deposit certificates.

Not Subject to Guarantee

  • Deposits of banks and other financial institutions;
  • Deposits of state authorities and state enterprises;
  • Deposits of related parties (except amounts not exceeding three months' salary);
  • Deposits in foreign branches or subsidiaries;
  • Individual pension savings accounts;
  • Funds recognized by court decision as proceeds of criminal activity.

Compensation Amount

  • Full amount if the deposit does not exceed 200,000,000 UZS;
  • 200,000,000 UZS if the deposit exceeds this limit.

Compensation Procedure

Compensation may be paid:

  • Through an agent bank;
  • By transfer to an account in another bank;
  • By other methods determined by the Supervisory Board of the Agency.

Payment Deadlines

The Agency must ensure that at least three-quarters of depositors are able to receive compensation within:

  • 20 working days;
  • From January 1, 2026 — within 15 working days;
  • From January 1, 2027 — within 7 working days.
